Welcome to Dove Creek Recording Studio.
We specialize in recording the most important kind of music - yours.
We are based in the Comox Valley, near Courtenay, British Columbia, Canada on beautiful Vancouver Island. Originally designed as a private recording studio for Mary Murphy and Paul Keim, over the years we have expanded to a 3 room commercial facility with a comfortable, professional environment.
The studio is located in a quiet rural setting, a short drive from Courtenay / Comox. We are equipped with a large selection of vintage and contemporary microphones as well as analogue outboard gear, Protools HD4, and an excellent monitoring chain / listening environment.
There is also an extensive collection of instruments and amps including vintage fenders, gibsons, national resophonics, weissenborns, and lap steels, and especially - a beautiful sounding 1926 Heintzman upright piano that has been completely restored.
 We are particularly proud of the sound of our rooms. Our tracking and control rooms are acoustically designed and treated based on consultations with John Cybanski from Sound of One Hand Clapping Studios in Ottawa. We think they are particularly suited to vocals and acoustic instruments of all kinds - including drums. Room “A” is 18 by 13.5 feet with 10 foot ceilings and was constructed as a box within a box for maximum isolation. The room is lined in cedar on all 4 walls and has a warm natural tone. Room “B” is 23 feet by 13.5 feet with two wood walls designed as a Helmholtz resonator and a lovely controlled live sound. The Control is 25 by 13.5 feet also with 10 foot ceilings and doubles as a third tracking room. Although there is substantial acoustic isolation between the rooms, room A and B are visually connected by a large window. All the rooms have natural light.
When you are ready for a break, just outside our studio doors are all the recreational wonders of the Comox valley - skiing, fishing, canoeing, golfing as well as bike and hiking trails.
We offer hourly, daily and weekly rates for our services.
