Welcome to Dove Creek Recording Studio.
We are based in the Comox Valley, near Courtenay, British Columbia, Canada on beautiful Vancouver Island.
Originally designed as a private recording studio for Mary Murphy and Paul Keim we have evolved into a haven for musicians who wish to work in a comfortable yet professional environment.
Located in a quiet rural setting, a short drive from Courtenay / Comox, Dove Creek Recording Studio bridges the gap between expensive commercial studios and cramped, under equipped and acoustically challenged home studios. We are equipped with an industry standard Protools HD4 system, with a Digidesign 192 16 in / 8 out A/D converter, an excellent monitoring chain and listening environment, a large selection of vintage and contemporary microphones as well as analogue outboard gear. There is also an extensive collection of instruments and amps including vintage weissenborns, fenders, gibsons, national resophonics and lap steels, available for recording.
 Comfortable and homey, the control room and tracking rooms and are acoustically designed based on consultations with John Cybanski from Sound of One Hand Clapping Studios in Ottawa. Tracking room A is 18 by 13.5 feet with 10 foot ceilings and was constructed as a box within a box for maximum isolation. Tracking room B is 21 feet by 13 feet also with 10 foot ceilings. The control room is 25 by 13.5 feet with 10 foot ceilings and doubles as a an additional tracking room. In addition there is a 12 by 8 foot lounge area with a very lively reverb that makes for an amazing electric guitar amp room. All the rooms have natural light to avoid the cave effect. The two tracking rooms are connected by a large window for easy communication between musicians.
When you are ready for a break, just outside our studio doors are all the recreational wonders of the Comox valley - skiing, fishing, canoeing, golfing as well as bike and hiking trails.
In addition to our in house services, we also offer a remote recording rig for documenting live performances or recording in the comfort of your own environment.
